It is imperative that the surface of the reservoirs are not damaged by the machines as a result of scalping because the banks are holding millions of liters of water and are inspected on a weekly basis. While they had tried other machines with mid-unit mounts, scalping and gouging of the surface became a major issue. Because of Ventrac’s Flex Frame, the mowing deck and tractor is able to float over undulations and they no longer have issues with scalping. The deck truly follows the contours of the surface.

The excellent airflow beneath the mower deck allows the grass clippings to be dispersed very well, leaving behind an accurate, quality finish.

Video Transcript: We look after roughly about three and a half thousand sites. We maintain hundreds of reservoirs. Every reservoir is regulated so they have to be inspected on a weekly basis so we have to keep the grass cut so even though a site can be in the middle of nowhere or up a mountain we still have to cut the grass. Everything we do all day is based around is it safe to do. A few years ago, this this site would have been cut by probably eight to ten people walking up and down with pedestrian mowers. So, you can imagine a hundred and fifty-six thousand square meters. You're walking miles and miles every day. There is always that room for error. Whether it be operative error whether it be slippage because it's wet. The Ventrac just gives the operator the peace of mind that he's safe but it also gives me as a manager a peace of mind that when I'm sat in the office, I know that my team's out there cutting thousands of square meters a day are safe doing that. It's very important that the surface of the reservoirs isn’t damaged by machine so scalping and things like that because obviously the banks are holding millions and millions of liters of water. We've tried mid-mount machines but the scalping is an issue. The Ventrac’s because of the way that the deck floats it floats over undulations and we don't get scalping. We don't get the issue. So, we can go it doesn't matter whether we're going sideways or up and down that the deck will follow the contours of the surface. And because there's so much air flow onto the mower deck it dissipates the grass and leaves a really good-quality finish. Which again is great for our customers. The UK's obviously famous for inclement weather. The Northwest is probably one of the wettest areas in the country. As a business and from a productivity point of view we have to maintain these sites. To be able to have a machine that we can actually not worry about the weather and still mow the grass safely is a massive bonus for us. My job is to ensure that every penny that comes to me spent wisely because we're not allowed to use chemical on clean water sites. There's a lot of hand weeding to do. So, I can utilize the labor elsewhere. So, it's not about saving money it's about using it in the best way possible. I am really excited by them. You know I've been in the industry for the nearly 35 years it does everything that I thought it would do when I first saw it. I've never seen anything like them.
