Tim and his wife Christy get a chance to try the Ventrac Wide Area Mower on their property in Indiana before its release. They recently moved to a new home in the country with more acreage and now have an increased need for something fast and productive to mow their lawn.

Aaron hands over the wheel as Tim and Christy put it to the test in areas on the property that might challenge its ability. Christy gets the first drive, where she trims around the garden and fence line. She appreciated the rear discharge feature and was satisfied with the visibility of the deck out in front of the tractor.

They open the tractor up on the large flat area of lawn where all five 20-inch cutting blades can get to work on the tough foxtail growing up through the grass. Tim was pleasantly surprised to see the Wide Area Mower perform better than he anticipates under the stress of riding along the ridge. The WAM outperformed Tim’s expectations because of its strategically placed anti-scalp rollers beneath the deck. The rollers are there to protect the ground from scalping in situations just like this. The full-width rear striping roller also helps to stabilize the deck and produce a quality of the cut that is expected with this caliber of equipment.
